Andrew Garfield was born in Los Angeles August 20,1983. His father is American and his mother is british. When Garfield was 3 him and his family moved back to Britain. He was brought up in a Middle class Jewish home. His father was a swim acoach and his mother owned a small interior design buisness. Garfield was brought up in Surrey, England and was a swimmer and gymnist.

Garfield started taking acting classes in Guilford,Surrey. When he was 12 he was in a youth theatre play called "Bugsy Malone". He also joined numerous youth theatre workshops. He won a Manchester Evening News Theatre award for best new comer. He also won the Outstanding Newcomer Award in 2006 for his theatre performance.
His first proffesional roles were on the stage and in 2005 he made his debuton Channel 4 teen series "Sugar Rush" in the UK. More tv work follwed as well as a number of movie appearances.
