Film de Criteria

What it is that makes a movie compelling, noteworthy, or deserving of an award??? To me a movie has to have excellent music, without music the film would be so lifeless, and not have any emotion.  The music choices can make the viewer get emotional allowing the viewer to really be touched by the film. Another impertant aspec of a film are the locations. If the film has horrible settings the movie will seem staged and un proffesional. Building sets that look like a real location is key as well. If the set is not done up to proffesional and realistic standards it will most likely not give the same feeling as a real location. I think timing of the weather and seasons can make that movie seem like it goes on through the year. A gret script or story is also very important. The movie has to have a meaning. I personally do not like movies that you can predict the next scene. A strong hook and a flowing story is always best. Clothing is another essential. Having very detailed clothing can make you feel like ur back in the 1920s or in a Casino with a suite. Clothing often determines what era the film maker is portraying.

I think the silent films had very good sets since they were not able to travel to each location like we can now. So they had to make very detailed and realistic sets. The silent films seemed more like a theatre play. I didnt care for the first videos story line. If it wasnt for the guy narrated it i wouldnt have understood the video. As for the great train robbery movie it had a good story. Right away you can tell what is going on based on the actions of the actors and sets. They also do a great job of changing the sets to make it look like they are on a train

The Shawshank Redemption//1994

The movie "The Shawshank Redemption" exceed my expectations of film making. First of all the story is incredible. There is a very strong hook in the beggining of the movie and there are twists. It makes you think. The music that was orchestrated for this movie is perfect. The music really adds to the dramatic scenes through out the film. The Happy and the Sad scenes.  I love the location they chose. The attire makes you feel like you were in the 1940s. My favorite thing about this movie is the fact the Morgan Freeman is narrating the whole thing. The script he narrated gave it a more of a storyteller vibe.

The Endless Summer//1966

The thing that i love about this movie are the locations they used. They filmed all over the world. Anywhere from Newport Beach to Africa. They filmed every where and filmed spots that have never been filmed before. The film itself is a classic. Back in the 60s there were many spots in the orld that have not been surfed and these two surfers and filmers documented their entire trip around the world searching for the best wave. The filmed in rural spots of the coast lines in the 60s. The music in the film goes along with that laid back feel. Id consider it to be a Movie/Documentary. But this is without a doub one of my favortie films beacuse they were the first to film scenes in some of the locations and took chances going into uncharted areas.
